Nissan Rally Raid Team News:
Colin McRae to take part in the UAE Desert Challenge
The 2005 Nissan Pickup to start the Baja Portalegre 500
•Colin McRae to take part in the UAE Desert Challenge (10-15 October)

On October 10th,Colin McRae and Tina Thörner will be heading for Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates, to take part in the penultimate round of the World Cup for Cross-Country Rallies. They will be driving the 2003 version of the Nissan Pickup, entered by the Nissan Rally Raid Team, with technical support from Team Dessoude. Having won the last edition of the Rally of the Orient, with Grégoire de Mevius behind the wheel, the Pickup 2003 has already proved its efficiency and reliability.
Colin McRae’s main aim in Dubai is to drive as much as possible (as he has not taken part in any of this season’s rally-raid events), and to continue his apprenticeship in the sand dunes. Colin’s vehicle will not be fitted with a tyre inflating – deflating system, as these will not be allowed during the next Dakar. All of which should make it an excellent preparation for January’s big event.

•The 2005 Nissan Pickup to start the Baja Portalegre 500 (22-24 October)

The 2005 version of the Nissan Pickup, which will be taking part in the 27th edition of the Dakar next January, is heading for a life-size test session during the Baja Portalegre 500. After many tests, over all sorts of terrain, the car will make its race debut during this final round of the European Bajas Cup.
Colin McRae, fully involved in the development of the car, will be behind the wheel for this inaugural drive. The Nissan Rally Raid Team will enter one car during this short but intense event, which should be a perfect opportunity for both the car and the team to get up to speed.
