TOKYO (June 8, 2006) - Nissan Motor Co., Ltd., (Nissan) and Nissan Motorsports International, Ltd. (NISMO), today announced that they have signed up Richard Lyons as driver for the MOTUL AUTECH Z iCar No.22j participating in Japan's SUPER GT series. Lyons will pair with Michael Krumm and participate from the next round in Malaysia later this month.
Lyons, who won the JGTC driver's championship in 2004 and the team championships in 2004 and 2005, replaces Sakon Yamamoto, the current driver, who is leaving for Formula One with the Super Aguri F1 team.
Nissan and NISMO would like to thank Yamamoto for all of his efforts and wish him success in Formula One.
