Nissan Titan Takes First Win in Bark River CORR Event
- Renezeder Victorious in Pro 2; Hord Takes Podium Twice in Pro Lite -
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (July 10, 2006)
The full-size Nissan Titan took its first professional off-road racing win as Nissan Motorsports continued its strong showing in the 2006 Championship Off-Road Racing (CORR) season in Rounds Five and Six, July 8 and 9, at the 2006 U.P Offroad 100 Racing event at the 1.68-mile Bark River Off Road Raceway in Bark River, Mich.

In the highly competitive Pro 2 class, Carl Renezeder, in his 715-horsepower Nissan Titan-bodied race truck, drove to victory in Round Five on Saturday. Renezeder relied on the pure power of the truck, starting tenth and passing all the trucks ahead of him to take the win. "Round Five was a real dog fight, right until the end," said Lake Forest, Calif.-based Renezeder. "But the Titan had unbelievable power and that helped us take the win."

In Pro Lite, hometown favorite Chad Hord, from nearby Felch, Mich. (approximately 40 miles from Bark River), finished both races on the podium - a third in Saturday’s Round Five and second place in Sunday’s Round Six races, giving him five total second-place finishes in six starts this season. Hord is a strong contender in the 2006 Pro Lite standings in his Nissan Frontier-bodied race truck, currently in second place in the overall drivers’ points standings.

"We’re excited, but not surprised, to be celebrating the first CORR win for the Nissan Titan in just its fourth weekend of professional competition," said Ron Stukenberg, senior manager, Nissan Motorsports marketing and operations.

"Between Carl’s victory, two podium finishes for Frontier in Pro Lite, and Chad’s contention for the championship, Nissan is proving to be a tough manufacturer to beat."

Pro 2
In Round 5, Renezeder drove through the full field to take his first win of 2006 and the first-ever CORR win for the Nissan Titan full-size truck. Unfortunately, Renezeder was not able to repeat this performance in Round 6, as his Titan was forced wide while negotiating through traffic and made contact with a track barrier. The front end of the truck was damaged enough to put it out of the race.

Pro Lite
Both Pro Lite races over the weekend featured full fields, with a minimum of 23 trucks starting each race. In Saturday’s Round Five Pro Lite action, Hord worked through traffic and battled electrical problems to finish third. In Sunday’s Round Six, Hord came in second place.
The next CORR Pro-series event, "Nissan’s Off Road Rumble at the Ranch," is scheduled for July 22-23 in Chula Vista, California.

Championship Off-Road Racing (CORR) combines close, fender-to-fender racing on challenging closed course dirt tracks in the Midwest and Southern California. Now in its 9th season, CORR is arguably the largest and most watched off-road racing series in North America.
