- NISSAN MOTORSPORTS EXHIBITION 2008 -
A record 132,000 people crowd round
the Red Brick Warehouse buildings in Yokohama
In the special events area of the Red Brick Warehouses in Yokohama, Nissan held its annual NISSAN MOTORSPORTS EXHIBITION 2008 event on March 1st and 2nd, a sign of the approach of spring, in Yokohama, Nissan's hometown.

Nissan's brand new racing car, the NISSAN GT-R GT500 model, due to battle in this season's SUPER GT, was displayed at the entrance of the event area and many families took photos in front of the GT-R. In addition, there was a "GT-R Spirit" Area in the event with all the models of GT-R displayed, and nearly 20 Nissan's production models were displayed in the "Line up" Area. Many fans, getting inside the race car, were able to physically know by feelings of the seats and the steering wheel. Race cars that have been in many races and rallies were displayed as well, and there were many fans gazing nostalgically.


Due to the many families with children that came to the event, there were battery cars and pedal cars that the children could play with, as well as mini cars and PlayStation games. In the Pit Work Simulation, children were able to experience changing tires and wheels weighing about 20kgs. Many parents proudly photographed their children hard at work.

Three times a day, on a specially-prepared course at the port just a few minutes' walk from the Red Brick Warehouses, there was a racing car demonstration with drivers Takao Wada and Masami Kageyama piloting the Zs and historic GT-R race cars and also Nissan GT-R race car, the drivers showing those cars' intense capabilities. There were crowds of people at this event. On the second day, Mr. Yoshitaka Iijima, NISMO team director, who had just finished SUPER GT testing at Suzuka two days prior, made an appearance and reported that the test went very well.
The assembled fans were very pleased.
