Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. and Nissan Motorsports International Co., Ltd. (NISMO) have started their Young Driver Training Program for the 2005 Dakar Rally, continuing on from this year's event.
July 24, Aragon, Spain - After competing in this year's Dakar Rally in January as part of Nissan's Young Driver Training Program, Yoshio Ikemachi and Jun Mitsuhashi started preparing for the 2005 Dakar Rally by participating in the Baja España from July 22 to 24.
On a very hot late summer day, rally drivers Yoshio Ikemachi and Jun Mitsuhashi, whose training for this year had only just started, came to Nismo in Omori, Tokyo on August 24th as part of the Young Driver Training Program and gave a report on how the program was going. They also told of their hopes and aspirations for Dakar 2005.
On September 12th and 13th, the 12th "4x4 24 hours at Essonne" (Paris 24 Hours) was held in the pastoral surroundings of the Essonne region, 50km south of Paris. Nissan Motorsports International (Nismo), based in Shinagawa, Tokyo, (President: Yuichi Sanada) sent Yoshio Ikemachi, who completed the race.
Yoshio Ikemachi and Jun Mitsuhashi, the members of the Nissan/Nismo Young Driver Training Program, took part in the 5th and final round of the March Cup West Japan Series which was held on October 2nd at the Mine Circuit in Yamaguchi Prefecture.
Nissan Motor Corporation and NISMO held a participation test-ride event at the Mobility Park off-road course in Izu on October 19 with Yoshio Ikemachi and Jun Mitsuhashi, the members of the Dakar Rally Young Driver Training Program.
At the AMV Shamrock Rally held in Morocco from November 1 to 6, overall victory went to Jun Mitsuhashi while 4th position was claimed by Yoshio Ikemachi.
