TUNISIA RALLY Outline
24th Rally Optic 2000 Tunisia, April 1 - 11
Second Round of FIA Cross-Country Rally World Cup

The 24th 2005 Rally Optic 2000 Tunisia is the second round of the FIA Cross-Country Rally World Cup, and the first race of the Africa round. This is a traditional sandy terrain event and the set route includes several obstacles. Several stages lacking any GPS reference points will require all the innate pathfinding skills the navigators can muster. In addition, there is the well-known El Borma – El Borma loop stage.

With sandy terrain, dunes, and rough tracks, this is a well-chosen cross-country course. From start to finish, it looks like being a very demanding race.

The prolog will be raced on Saturday April 3 at Nice in France, with the first group in the 24th 2005 Rally Optic 2000 Tunisia heading across to Tunisia in the afternoon. In the short prolog stage, the watchword will be ‘caution’ as always. Few drivers will be willing to spoil their chances by coming to grief on this brief 4-km stage. The first special stage on African soil will be the Le Kef – Tamerza segment on the morning of April 5. The drivers will eventually reach Djerba, the goal in the south of Tunisia, on the 11th.
