Race 1

Jean-Christophe Ravier scored his first win of the season in the World Series by Nissan after a brilliant drive in the first race of the day at Valencia.
The Frenchman, who qualified second, lost one place at the start to run third behind poleman Heikki Kovalainen and Narain Karthikeyan. But Ravier passed Karthikeyan at the end of the first lap, and then soon closed up on Kovalainen. On the fifth lap he took the lead into the final corner, and from then on the Epsilon Euskadi driver dominated to win by 12.678 seconds from Kovalainen's Pons Racing car.

"This was an incredible race for me," said Ravier. "My car was very perfect from the start to the finish and the move on Heikki was very easy."
A superb battle for third went the way of Spaniard Felix Porteiro. Karthikeyan was struggling from half-distance with a problem that meant he could not get full throttle on the straights, and Porteiro was able to pass him at the beginning of the last lap to take the best result so far for the new Porfesa Competicion team.
Half a lap later Karthikeyan was out of the race after a clash with Juan Cruz Alvarez. The Argentinian is under investigation for this incident, plus another one in which Tiago Monteiro was forced onto the grass. After that, Monteiro went out in a collision with Adrian Valles.
All this allowed Olivier Pla to take fourth place from Ander Vilarino and Enrique Bernoldi.
Race 2

Heikki Kovalainen has pulled out a 24-point advantage in the World Series by Nissan after taking victory in the second race of the day at Valencia.
The Finn started his Pons Racing car from pole position and from then on was only briefly headed during the mandatory pitstops on his way to an 8.451-second success over first-race winner Jean-Christophe Ravier.
"This has been a fantastic weekend so we can't be disappointed with losing the first race," said Kovalainen. "I had a good feeling with the car and the win was pretty straightforward."
Tiago Monteiro (Carlin Motorsport) held second place early in the race from Epsilon Euskadi driver Ravier. But there were problems with changing Monteiros left-front wheel during his pitstop and he lost several places. The Portuguese then damaged his front wing in a collision with Enrique Bernoldi and was forced to settle for seventh place, meaning he loses second place in the points to Bernoldi, who finished fourth.

The final place on the podium was therefore taken by Tristan Gommendy, who paid tribute to his Saulnier Racing crew for an amazing four-second pitstop. Adrian Valles was looking set for fourth until he retired with electrical problems, allowing Bernoldi to take the place from Olivier Pla and Felix Porteiro.
Other retirements were Narain Karthikeyan with a repeat of his first-race throttle problems, and Juan Cruz Alvarez, who spun out of fourth position.
