NISSAN Tiidas finish 8th and 9th

- China Touring Car Championship Round 4 Race Report -

August 1st, Chengdu Circuit

The fourth round of the Chinese Touring Car Championship (CTCC) was held at the Chengdu Circuit in Chengdu City, Sichuan Province, China. The Nissan Tiida of the Dongfeng Nissan Ghia Sports Team driven by Guo Haisheng came 8th in the 1600cc class, while Xie Xinzhe finished 9th.

This time, rookie driver Xie Xinzhe, who made his racing debut in the series in Round 2 at Zhuhai, was driving the third Nissan entry.

Although about 1 month had passed since the third round, also at Chengdu, conditions were once again wet for the fourth round of the championship. Guo's #1 Tiida started from 4th place on the grid, but in the confusion at the 2nd corner of the opening lap, the car dropped back and was in 8th place when they came round onto the home straight. On the other hand, rookie Xie, driving the #4 Tiida, starting from 9th on the grid, was better able to protect his position in the chaos, and maintained 9th place after the first lap. So it remained in the second lap, with the two Tiidas and another car neck and neck. The #12 Polo, which was on the outside, then made contact with the #1 Tiida, causing it to spin in front of four cars. As a result of the #12 Polo clipping the #1 and #4 Tiidas, they dropped back to 11th and 12th positions respectively. After that, they went in pursuit of the highest possible finish, but in the end Guo's #1 Tiida came 8th, and Xie's #4 Tiida came 9th when the checkered flag fell after 18 laps.

The #2 Tiida driven by Lin Lifeng started from 14th place on the grid in the championship race. From the back, he aimed to move up as best he could, but at the 5th corner of the opening lap, he was rear-ended by a following car and spun, dropping back to the tail of the field. After that he completed the laps steadily, finishing in 14th place.
