After 9 months of tough training that had begun in May 2008, Lucas Ordonez (23, Spain) got his international racing license and participated in the Dubai 24H endurance race as an important member of the team. He was able to achieve both his and the team's dream of running an impressive race. This was the first time in motorsports history that a racing driver had been born through this type of process.
Former F1 Driver and teammate Johnny Herbert (UK) said "Lucas had a lot of pressure on him, but he had a great race without any mistakes. He gave us the result we were looking for, and he proved that if you give a young person with ability the proper training and opportunity they can move from the virtual world to a real race situation."
During the intense training program created by the Nissan/Playstation® Racing Team, Lucas spent four months participating in races all over UK in preparation for the 24-hour race in Dubai. The GT Academy's influence is great, so there will be a lot of attention paid to his activities from now on.
