    The curtain rises on the 2010 China Touring Car Championship (CTCC). Up until now, the opening race was held at the Shanghai F1 Circuit, but this year it was held at the Tienma Circuit, also in Shanghai.

    Moving from what was a ''Team Championship'' to a ''Manufacturer Championship''this season with a 3-car entry required for each team, the DongFeng Nissan Ghia Sports Team was restructured to include 3 vehicles.

    This year's drivers included veteran Guo Haisheng, Lin Lifeng, and newcomer Sun Zheng who drove the third TIIDA in the opening race.

    As the Shanghai Tienma Circuit is a short, 2km track, qualifying for the participating cars was split into two groups before carrying out the race. All three TIIDA entries were put in the first group and each vied for a strong placement.

    From the start of qualifying, the TIIDAs upped the pace, but Sun encountered brake trouble, resulting in him going off track. With his car damaged, a red flag was hoisted and the session temporarily stopped. After qualifying was restarted, rival cars upped the ante, resulting in an eventual starting position of 7th for the #1 TIIDA, 10th for the #2 car, and 11th for the #3 machine.

    The following day. Just before the start of the race at Shanghai's Tienma Circuit, a cold rain began to fall. The race looked to be threatened right from the beginning. Lin, starting from 10th position, made contact at the first corner just after the start of the race. He returned to the pit.

    After a tyre change, Lin was back in the race, but as his vehicle had also sustained damage to the suspension, he headed back to the pits on lap 4, ending his race.

    Despite an 11th position start, Sun made contact with a Hyundai on the last corner of the 5th lap, resulting in damage to his vehicle and his retirement from the race.

    Guo eventually lost one position from his 7th place start, but was able to slide into 4th place after the Safety Car run. He was able to take one more position near the end of the race, gaining 3rd.

    Guo continued to press on, but according to race time regulations, the chequered flag was waved after 34 minutes, on the 22nd lap. Guo was still in 3rd. After the conclusion of the race however, the winning car was given a penalty, resulting in Guo moving up to 2nd.
