    The stage for Round 2 of the China Touring Car Championship (CTCC) was Zhuhai in Guangdong Province, the teamfs home circuit. With no CTCC meet there last season, it has been over a year since the teams have visited.

    Guo Haisheng, who in 2008 took the #1 Tiida to the 2nd step on the podium here in Zhuhai, qualified 6th. His teammate in the #2 Tiida LinLifeng was unable to improve from practice and wound up 12th.

    At this 2nd round, driving the third Tiida entry was rookie Xie Xin Zhe in the #4 machine. Finishing just 0.2 seconds away from 6th place, he was 8th.

    Throughout the weekend the weather at Zhuhai saw intermittent rain and unstable skies. Drops of rain fell as the race was about to start. The large NISSAN cheer group is used to Zhuhai and rooted for the DongFeng NISSAN team.

    With the car that qualified 5th receiving a grid demotion and another spinning on the formation lap, Guo would start 5th, with Xie 6th and Lin 10th.

    In the unstable conditions, it was going to be an intense race. At turn one on lap 2 Guo passed a VW Polo to move up to 4th place. He pulled out again and then moved back as a heated battle among four cars started.

    A serious fight ensued as the four, including Guo and those behind him, diced over 3rd place. However, on lap 7 Guo made contact with a HAIMA and went off track. He fell to 12th. In the later stages he went off again and into retirement.

    While Guo went out battling for third, new face Xie struggled. On lap 8 he passed a HAIMA to move up to fourth place. Then a Polo he was chasing ran into trouble and he rose to third.

    Xie had moved up to third. It was expected the race would end this way, but on lap 12 there was contact with a HAIMA that had come chasing from behind and he ended up crossing the finish line in sixth place.

    After qualifying 12th, Lin Lifeng moved up two grid positions, showing true grit to the end. In a car where trouble occurred, he demonstrated finesse and superb control on a wet track surface. He finished the race in 8th.
