China Touring Car Championship

  • Title #1
    1/10
The 6th round of the China Touring Car Championship (CTCC) was held at the rowing site of the 2008 Beijing Olympics. A special course was created from the aquatic park's sidewalks and public roads surrounding the park, closed off for the event.
  • Title #2
    2/10
The track has sections that are only 7 metres wide. The layout features an extremely narrow and technically difficult infield combined with a high-speed straightaway. The Superleague Formula races were held concurrently with the CTCC event.
  • Title #3
    3/10
As the track is quite narrow, the qualifying session saw drivers separated into three groups, each competing in 10-minute blocks. Guo Haisheng and Sun Zheng, the rookie driver in the third Tiida, started their time trial in the 2nd qualifying group.
  • Title #4
    4/10
During qualifying, Sun Zheng, whose tyres weren't properly warmed up, almost came into contact with Guo. Haisheng was sent into a spin as he tried to avoid a collision and ended the session 8th. Meanwhile Sun Zheng's bold qualifying attempt landed him 3rd.
  • Title #5
    5/10
In the number 2 Tiida, Lin Lifeng took to the track in the qualifying session's 3rd group. He ended up 9th, right behind Guo.
  • Title #6
    6/10
The race began with a rolling start after 3 laps led by the Safety Car. One of the Polo entries starting ahead of Guo came to a stop during the Safety Car laps, allowing Haisheng and Lin to each move up one position.
  • Title #7
    7/10
As the laps piled up and time went by, Sun Zheng found himself fighting it out in the group of cars vying for 2nd place. He showed an aggressive racing style as he raced alongside the Polo in front of him. However, in the middle of the race, Sun was rear-ended by a trailing car. His Tiida received damage to its rear and Zheng dropped back to 6th place.
  • Title #8
    8/10
Guo, who had been running 6th, was able to pass but at turn 8 on lap 10 he hit the tyre barrier and was forced to retire.
  • Title #9
    9/10
Lin faced hot pursuit from a Haima but was able to hold onto 7th place. On lap 15 the Safety Car came back out as a stalled car was collected. The final five laps proceeded under the Safety Car until the chequered flag was waved.
  • Title #10
    10/10
After the race had ended, a higher-placed competitor was penalized, allowing Sun Zheng to move up to 5th and Lin into 6th places. It was the rookie Sun's 4th appearance in a CTCC event. The youngster has placed three times and looks to have a bright future.
